My Philosophy

I believe that a person’s birth journey is to be guided by their intuition, their body, their soul, and their baby. While other people may fulfill strong support roles on this journey, ultimately the birthing person should lay forth that path while the rest of us are simply invited to walk alongside them on the path in a way of their choosing. I fully support any informed, safe decision that a person makes about their labor and birth, as long as I too maintain my comfort. The relationship between birthing person & birth worker is built on a foundation of trust and acceptance. And I trust that our bodies are created and designed to birth our babies, and I accept that the power we possess is enough. Knowledge, awareness, and acceptance are among our greatest tools to erase fear and doubt. I am so honored to walk alongside families on this path!

I appreciated how (Rachael) listened to my intentions and hopes for the birth without judgement and with complete support. I felt she was a great advocate for my wants. During my labor, she blended in well with my birth team. I felt her presence yet she was not overbearing.”

The benefits of birth support are well researched and documented. My approach to birth work is evidence-based, but also balanced with honoring tradition.
